Simply for the sake of saying it — the reason Kelsey draws skulls is not meant to be “a dark thing”, no. Genuinely, it’s because she has a hard time drawing people. Skulls are the closest thing to a human form that she can get to realistically. There’s also something to a soul living beyond that grave that instills hope; a sense of faith. So it goes….
